Hand Turned Wooden Bowls
All of my turnings are made from sustainably harvested trees. Most of my wood is provided by my brother who is a logger/forester. Many of these are storm-damaged trees from residential neighborhoods that would other wise become firewood or go to waste.
Almost all of my turnings are turned while the wood is green and to finished thickness. This is often referred to as once turned. and it allows the wood to warp and take on a shape that, like the grain, is impossible to recreate by man. Some bowls move drastically and others less so, but all are one of a kind and unique, never duplicated.
I can also create a custom piece for you from wood you wish to provide. From memories of climbing them as a child to hiding from the hot summer sun under their leaves, trees can be a very sentimental part of your life. I am often asked to take a downed tree from a family home and let it live on in a second life as a vessel for family meals.
